A leading construction business is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the delivery of a major building project in Bridlington.
The role offers a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 3 days per week on site, working closely with the wider project and commercial teams.
You dont need to come from a housebuilding background. Experience with a main contractor across any building sector will be considered, provided you have strong commercial project experience.
The Role
- Take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account
- Procure and manage subcontractors in line with programme and project requirements
- Manage subcontract accounts, applications, payments and valuations
- Prepare and submit external valuations and maintain accurate forecasts
- Monitor project costs, liabilities and commercial performance
- Carry out measurement from drawings and on site where required
- Manage variations, change and commercial risk
- Support the identification and management of delays
- Produce CVRs, valuations and other commercial reports
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
- Work closely with clients, consultants, project teams and the supply chain
- Negotiate and agree commercial changes and variations
About You
- Minimum 3 years experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector
- Main contractor experience within a building environment
- Experience managing the commercial aspects of construction projects
- Strong subcontract procurement and contract administration experience
- Good knowledge of valuations, forecasting, cost control and variations
- Working knowledge of JCT, NEC or equivalent contracts
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
- HND, degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying / Built Environment desirable
- Valid CSCS card desirable
- Valid UK driving licence
