We are working with a leading residential developer who is seeking an Architectural Designer to join their Central Design team. This role involves assisting in the development and upkeep of their standard housing and apartment portfolio, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, and supporting regional teams with design resources.
You will be working across the full design process, from concept through to construction, liaising with internal stakeholders and external consultants to deliver high-quality residential design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in producing standard housing and apartment portfolios, including planning, working drawing, and sales packages using AutoCAD Architectural Desktop.
- Ensure all designs meet Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and the company’s Architect Brief and Standard Construction Details.
- Produce and update construction and internal specifications in line with legislation.
- Liaise with regional land, planning, and technical teams to identify and fill portfolio gaps.
- Work with nominated suppliers to integrate their designs into drawing packages.
- Attend meetings with third-party consultants and collaborate on product development.
- Monitor legislation changes impacting design packages.
- Undertake site visits to review product performance and gather feedback.
- Investigate sustainable products and build methods.
- Contribute to the designer’s risk register and respond to site queries.
- Support document management systems and maintain design specifications databases.
- Use Photoshop and InDesign to produce housing portfolio materials.
Requirements
- Minimum HNC in Construction (a design-based degree advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and NHBC standards.
- 2-3 years post qualification experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit, InDesign, and Photoshop desirable.
- Good understanding of timber frame construction and renewable technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Flexible approach to workload and deadlines.
