About the team

Over the last 10 years, we have established a leading franchise advising (re)insurance companies on all aspects of their communication and stakeholder engagement strategies. We work with (re)insurance companies ranging from non-life to life, across all parts of the distribution chain, including some of the market’s best-known insurers, brokers and MGAs. Our clients range from FTSE100 players to leading global brands. The breadth of FTI’s capabilities means we work with these clients across all aspects of corporate affairs – from M&A and financial communications to change management to the use of AI and data science. Being able to combine our (re)insurance expertise with FTI’s experts in each of these fields is our differentiator. While London is the hub, our clients and franchise are international – expanding our business globally is a key growth pillar for us. (re)insurance sits within our financial services team, which is a leading global offering with 50 professionals in London and over 100 across our international network. We advise some of the world’s biggest banks and asset managers. While (re)insurance would be a core part of the role, exposure to this client base would also be part of the role.

About The Role

We are looking for a senior corporate affairs professional with:

  • A deep understanding of the (re)insurance market;
  • Strong connectivity across the sector;
  • Proven ability to commercialise a network;
  • A track record of advising C-suite / Heads of corporate affairs.

This individual would join our firm and play a key role as we continue to scale our (re)insurance franchise. This is an exciting opportunity for you to deploy your expertise while benefiting from FTI’s full corporate affairs toolkit, including corporate reputation, campaigning, financial communications, ESG, digital and owned content. This role will see you become responsible for managing, and seeking to grow, a number of existing accounts across the (re)insurance sector. Best-in-class client management and proven advisory capabilities are essential for this role. You will also be responsible for supporting the growth strategy of the team, working with the leaders collaboratively to help commercialise your network while also expanding it to identify additional client opportunities.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Proven expertise - Expert in (re)insurance and ideally financial services, with an established market reputation for expertise.
  • Strong industry and media relationships, with the ambition to expand these.
  • Corporate affairs mindset with firm understanding of channels beyond media.
  • Excellence in growing and leading accounts, and building long-lasting client relationships.
  • Hands-on and collaborative – we pride ourselves on going to market as a team rather than individuals.
  • Track and spot emerging market trends that could impact clients and their reputation.
  • Lead client counsel with authority and influence, delivering clear advice to senior decision-makers with an expert grasp of technical subject matter.

Build the Business

  • Grow existing FTI client relationships by proving value-add advice, and spotting opportunities to support existing service lines with wider FTI capabilities.
  • Work with the leadership team to own a business development and service marketing plan which targets an emerging network of your own commercial relationships and expanding that network over time to include other buyers of FTI’s services within the (re)insurance sector.
  • Lead the drafting and development of commercial proposals.
  • As industry trends evolve, innovate the firm’s service offer within Strategic Communications to help maintain a market-leading value proposition.

Grow the Team

  • Proactively upskill and mentor members of the team.
  • Set the standard for commercial excellence by overseeing revenue growth and managing profitability measures for the firm.
  • Be an ambassador for the firm in industry circles, including with relevant financial advisers and the advisory community by managing an active referral network.
  • Represent your part of the business with other parts of the firm, actively participating in firm-wide commercial and talent development initiatives.
