Salary: £38,823 + Tronc

Responsibilities:

  • Provide courteous and professional service at all times.
  • Handle guest and employee enquiries efficiently, providing prompt follow‑up and reporting or handing over unresolved problems to the next shift engineer if no immediate solution can be found.
  • Record daily consumption of gas, water and electricity and work to conserve energy without compromising guest comfort.
  • Be flexible throughout the shift to meet guest demands.
  • Work closely with other employees in a supportive manner, focusing on overall hotel success and guest satisfaction.
  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Monitor and request purchase of parts and consumables from your manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all work areas and protect walls and floors during work.
  • Maintain effective energy conservation at all times.
  • Ensure fire, life and safety systems are operational.
  • Perform emergency procedures related to fire, life and safety, including tending to fire alarms and lift rescues.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks (PPMs).
  • Report any abnormal conditions related to safety equipment to your manager.
  • Assist other engineers when required and work as a team.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in systems and components and rectify defects.
  • Recognise and report hazards to your manager.
  • Use and maintain a variety of power tools and testing equipment.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Shift Engineer with a strong commitment to maintaining high operational standards and supporting exceptional guest experiences. Previous experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role within hospitality is highly advantageous; hotel or resort experience is a strong asset. A hands‑on approach, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently during shifts are essential. Candidates should be highly organised, detail‑oriented, and able to prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a professional, service‑focused attitude when interacting with guests and colleagues.
