We’re looking for an exceptional Data, Risk and Assurance Manager to help shape a confident, forward-thinking approach to risk, data protection and assurance. You’ll play a vital role in smart decision making, protecting what matters most and building a secure future for our customers.

We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be the role for you!

What we’re all about

You can probably already tell that we’re not your typical housing provider! With around 20,000 homes (and more in the pipeline), we’re on track with our growth plan to build 8,000 new homes across Yorkshire. We’re dedicated to creating exceptional customer experiences along the way and are on a mission to build a culture that prioritises excellence, innovation, and customer obsession.

What you’ll be doing

This is a brilliant opportunity to join us at an important point in our journey, with real ambition to take our Data, Risk and Assurance function to the next level. We’re looking for someone who can be a trusted voice across the organisation - bringing clarity to how we manage risk, supporting confident decision-making and helping colleagues do the right thing, not the easy thing.

You’ll play a key role in building risk and data protection capability across Yorkshire Housing, using your expertise to influence stakeholders, strengthen relationships and provide practical, risk-based guidance that helps the business move forward. Alongside this, you’ll lead and develop a fantastic team, coaching and motivating them to grow their impact and work collaboratively across the organisation.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead our data protection, risk and assurance work - making sure we stay compliant while keeping things practical and fit for purpose. From owning our risk and controls framework, data protection and business continuity processes, to overseeing internal audit, you’ll help keep Yorkshire Housing safe, resilient and forward-thinking. You’ll also be a key partner to senior leaders and the Board, providing clear insight and assurance so we can keep learning, improving and focusing on what matters most to our customers.

This is an agile homeworking role. There’ll be days when you’ll join us in our Leeds workspace for team catch-ups, collaboration and face-to-face time with colleagues and other times you might choose to work from home. Some weeks you may be in more than others depending on what’s needed, so being able to travel to Leeds easily is important - but you’ll always have plenty of notice so you can plan ahead.

Who are we looking for?

We’re after someone who knows their stuff when it comes to data protection, risk and assurance - but just as importantly, someone who can work with people to make it meaningful in practice. You’ll be a natural collaborator, building great relationships and helping colleagues feel confident in what good looks like. You’ll also be a supportive and motivating leader, creating a team environment where people can grow, feel valued and do their best work - all while keeping our customers at the heart of everything we do.

  • Strong experience across data protection, risk and assurance, with the confidence to guide and support the business
  • Experience leading and developing a team, bringing people together and helping them thrive
  • Someone who is great at building relationships and influencing others across all levels
  • The ability to bring complex topics to life, whether that’s with the Board, senior leaders or colleagues
  • Someone who is genuinely customer obsessed, always thinking about how to improve what we do
  • A clear, down-to-earth communicator who’s organised, approachable and gets things done
  • The ability to juggle priorities and keep things on track, without losing sight of the detail
What’s in it for you...

Salary: £54,700 per annum (35 hours/week)
