Ancient + Brave is a female founded, mission-driven wellness brand with an award-winning range of collagen, supplements and functional blends. Rooted in ancient wisdom and validated by science, our simple daily rituals support our community in nurturing whole body health.

Social and environmental responsibility has always been at the heart of the business and woven into how we operate. We are a certified B Corp, a member of 1% for the Planet, and through the Made By Brave Foundation we direct 1%+ of all revenue to environmental and social causes.

This is a newly created role, and a deliberate strategic investment. We believe that a brand as distinctive, science-led, and mission-driven as Ancient + Brave deserves a dedicated in-house PR voice. This person will be embedded in our organisation and brand, know the science, and be agile and credible enough to put us at the centre of the conversations that matter.

Today health, nutrition and wellness are among the most reported-on topics in global media. Stories about collagen, adaptogens, the gut-brain connection, longevity, women’s health and the women’s health gap are everywhere. These topics sit squarely within our expertise, but whilst we have built successful product listing PR, we are not currently capitalising on the broader conversation we should be part of.

This role is the first dedicated PR hire at Ancient + Brave and will shape how we show up in earned media globally. Working closely with our science, brand and marketing teams you will craft a PR function that proactively and strategically places Ancient + Brave at the heart of the key conversations of our time, supporting the brand as it builds its profile as a leader in health and wellness.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the global PR strategy.
  • Develop and lead a global earned media strategy that builds brand awareness and credibility across key markets (US, ES, DE and UK).
  • Identify the publications, journalists, and platforms where Ancient + Brave should have a consistent, trusted presence.
  • Bring the UK press office in house and manage relationships with global PR agencies in partnership with market leads.
  • Define and maintain our internal press office function, building systems, processes and a strong media contact database.
  • Set clear PR objectives and report regularly on coverage, reach, sentiment and EMV.
  • Drive science and brand storytelling.
  • Make the most of existing scientific studies, especially the BECOME collagen study in all markets.
  • Translate complex ingredients and nutrition science into compelling, accurate, media-ready narratives.
  • Maximise the potential of our expert in-house nutrition and innovation voices as a unique and unrivalled brand asset.
  • Work in partnership with our science and product teams to stay ahead of emerging research relevant to our ingredient portfolio.
  • Develop strong thought leadership content and position our experts as credible voices in the health and wellness space.
  • Create a consistent drumbeat of brand news including launches, partnerships, sustainability milestones, and research keeping Ancient + Brave front of mind for journalists across key media categories.
  • Lead reactive and newsjacking PR.
  • Monitor health, nutrition, science and wellness news daily - and move fast when our story intersects with what the world is talking about.
  • Build a reactive PR capability that can turn around a credible, on-brand comment, data point or expert perspective within hours.
  • Identify trends before they peak and position Ancient + Brave as a natural part of the conversation, not an afterthought.
  • Build and maintain media relationships.
  • Cultivate long-term, trust-based relationships with journalists, editors and producers covering health, science, nutrition, lifestyle, business and sustainability.
  • Be genuinely useful to the media becoming a source they come to proactively, not just a brand that pitches at them.
  • Manage media enquiries, interview requests, and fact-checking with speed and accuracy.
  • Maximise collaborations.
  • This is a hands-on role with limited agency support. Where external agencies or freelancers are used, you will own those relationships and ensure they are delivering to the strategy you have defined.
  • Collaborate with our social, content and influencer teams to ensure PR activity amplifies and connects with wider brand campaigns.
  • Support crisis communications when required, working with the leadership team to protect brand reputation.

WHO YOU ARE

To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills / knowledge / experience:

  • Significant PR experience in health, wellness, nutrition, food and drink, or a closely adjacent consumer sector.
  • Strong existing relationships with health, science and lifestyle journalists and editors, particularly in the UK.
  • A proven track record of landing meaningful coverage in target publications, not just volume.
  • Experience of reactive PR and newsjacking, able to read a news agenda and move quickly.
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate science accurately and compellingly.
  • Experience working across multiple international markets, including the UK, Europe and North America.
  • Excellent writing skills, from punchy press releases to long-form op-eds.
  • You are a self-starter who thrives with autonomy and takes genuine ownership.
  • You care about credibility and would prioritise one piece in a trusted outlet than 10 pieces in places nobody reads.
  • You’re comfortable being the only PR person in the building and crafting a function from scratch.
  • You are deeply curious about health, science and nutrition and you believe in the Ancient + Brave mission.

Further, to truly thrive at Ancient + Brave you will need to embody the spirit of our brand and align with our company culture.
