Contract Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Anchor is seeking a Head of Land and Planning to lead the land and planning function across England and help deliver high-quality homes for later life. Reporting to the Director of Land and Regeneration, the role leads a high-performing team responsible for site identification, appraisal, acquisition and securing planning permission, ensuring schemes are handed over smoothly for delivery. The post works closely with senior leadership, Development Finance, operational colleagues and external partners including local authorities, agents and funders.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team aligned to Anchor’s Development Strategy
  • Oversee land appraisal, due diligence, acquisition and business cases
  • Lead the team to secure implementable planning consents and progress schemes through early design
  • Provide clear reporting on performance, risk and opportunity to senior leaders
  • Act as a senior contact with local authorities, combined authorities, Homes England, the GLA and other partners
  • Champion strong governance, compliance and continuous improvement

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in land, planning and housing development
  • Proven leadership and people management capability
  • Strong appraisal, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Understanding of Homes England and GLA requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
