Are you an organised, detail‑focused finance professional eager to develop your career in a supportive and dynamic environment? We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team, providing essential accounting support to our rented and extra care housing services.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and post accounting entries including re‑codes, re‑charges, accruals, and pre‑payments
- Review and report on service charge and revenue variances with insightful commentary
- Support the annual budgeting process, providing guidance and training to operational teams
- Provide first‑line finance support and training to operational colleagues via various communication channels
- Prepare balance sheet and fund account reconciliations in line with deadlines
- Help operational managers develop financial management skills through proactive support and advice
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with the wider finance team and contribute to continuous process improvements
What We’re Looking For:
- AAT qualification (or equivalent experience) or willingness to undertake study
- Experience in a customer‑focused finance role, preferably within housing or a large multi‑site organisation
- Strong understanding of service charge legislation and housing finance processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Excel and IT skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Willingness to travel occasionally across UK locations
