Job Role: Security Officer (Licensed Venue - Night Operations)

Working Hours: The shifts vary but range from between 18:00–2:00 and 18:00–00:00 on different nights

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Reporting to: Operations Manager/Contracts Manager

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced Security Officer to join our established security team based at Waverley Market in Edinburgh. We have been appointed to deliver an enhanced security operation to support the opening of a new leisure tenant at Waverley Market, which is a high-profile, licensed leisure venue in the heart of Edinburgh. This is not a static guarding role. We require experienced, customer-focused security professionals who are confident operating in a busy night-time economy (NTE) environment. The role demands a blend of professional security officer standards, door supervision capability, and strong customer engagement skills. This is a highly visible, front-facing deployment where service standards matter just as much as safety. Further ongoing shifts may be available for the right candidates. The successful candidate must have a valid SIA Licence as a minimum.

Duties include:

  • Deliver a safe, controlled and professional security presence within the proximity of a licensed leisure venue
  • Manage access and egress within the Shopping Centre in line with venue policy and licensing requirements
  • Oversee safe dispersal of customers at closing time
  • Manage movement from customers from the Licensed venue into shared/common areas of the shopping centre
  • Prevent loitering, anti-social behaviour, and alcohol-related disorder
  • Conduct conflict management and de-escalation where required
  • Liaise professionally with centre management and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate incident reporting and documentation
  • Represent Anchor and the client to the highest standard at all times

This venue sits within a shared shopping centre environment. A key responsibility will be managing customer egress to exit common areas once the Licensed Leisure venue closes. Officers must be confident in controlling flow from a licensed premises into public mall space, preventing congregation after trading hours, managing alcohol-influenced behaviour professionally, and applying firm but fair authority.

Requirements

  • Full 5-year employment checkable history - essential
  • Valid Door Supervisor SIA licence - essential
  • Customer Service experience and confidence to handle conflict in a correct manner
  • Flexible to meet the job requirements
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Smart appearance and be well-groomed
