About the Role

We are currently supporting a number of primary and secondary schools across South East London who are seeking reliable and proactive Caretakers to join their teams. This is a key role within the school, responsible for maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Opportunities are available on both a long-term and flexible basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing the school premises, including alarm systems
  • Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks
  • Ensuring the cleanliness, safety and security of the site
  • Conducting regular health and safety checks
  • Setting up rooms and facilities for lessons, events and activities
  • Monitoring contractors on site where required

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance or facilities role (school experience desirable)
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
