The Anchor Inn is a historic pub in Salterforth, about to embark on an exciting new chapter. Following a £250,000 renovation, we are set to re-open with a fresh look and a renewed commitment to quality, community, and memorable experiences. Our relaunch is scheduled for early July, and we are looking for a Head Chef who is ready to make their mark!
We are searching for a dynamic, creative, and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen through this transformation and beyond. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all kitchen operations, from opening preparations through to daily service
- Designing, developing, and regularly updating menus with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Recruiting, training, and leading the kitchen team
- Ensuring all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
- Maintaining rigorous health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Managing ordering, stock control, and kitchen budgets
- Working closely with management on promotions, events, and new offerings
- Helping shape the food culture and reputation of The Anchor Inn
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a fast-paced kitchen, with responsibility for service execution and food quality
- A passion for modern pub food and creative menu development
- Food hygiene certification (Level 3 or above preferred)
- Commitment to building the best, most creative, and locally inspired food offering in the area
- A genuine desire to be part of the community and help establish The Anchor Inn as a must-visit destination for food lovers
- Formal culinary training (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery, City & Guilds, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
- Experience with food safety audits and Environmental Health Officer (EHO) inspections
