About The Role

Location: Plymouth, Exeter or Okehampton with field-based travel across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall

Salary: £28,985 to £32,889 (dependent on experience)

Role Type: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus 1-in-5 stand‑by rota

As part of our essential front‑line operations service, you will be joining a collaborative, stable and welcoming team that is responsible for ensuring that planned and reactive operations work is completed to a high standard and to schedule. This role helps make sure our clean and wastewater assets are operated and maintained effectively across our various sites and that our customers are kept well‑informed throughout work that affects them. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all activity is undertaken in line with contractual agreements and internal procedures. This is a customer facing role based in/around the South West, primarily around Plymouth, Exeter, Okehampton and surrounding areas but travel throughout Somerset, Devon and Cornwall will be required to meet business requirements. The role will include participation in an out‑of‑hours stand‑by rota on a 1-in‑5 basis.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Operating and maintaining clean and wastewater sites and networks
  • Ensuring we hold sufficient stores of wholesome potable water supplies
  • Providing a mobile reactive maintenance and repair function within your operational area
  • Recording accurate information and feedback in real‑time using portable/mobile devices
  • Communicating regularly with colleagues and customers onsite to ensure swift and satisfactory resolutions and to record completed works
  • Travelling to different sites on a regular basis and reading meters
  • Taking part in a regional on‑call rota to provide out of hours response and support to customers

What You’ll Bring:

  • Maintenance experience, ideally within a similar field‑based role
  • Intermediate IT skills and experience of using different IT software packages and devices
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills to enable you to work with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to manage and maximise your time effectively and identify time‑saving opportunities
  • Comfortable to work with chemicals and gases once trained to do so
  • The ability to build and develop strong relationships at all levels with both internal and external contacts and customers
  • Comfortable working in both confined spaces and outdoors in all weather conditions

Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must:

  • Meet the UK Security Vetting requirements for the role which includes, but is not limited to, the successful candidate being a full‑time resident of the UK for the past 5 years
  • You must have a full, valid driving licence and be comfortable driving a van
