Location: Hybrid, Barnsley (S75 1JN min. 2 office days per week)
Salary: circa £48,000 to £50,000 per annum up to 20% bonus
Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

Joining the high-performing Operations function, you will use your experience within the water industry to help us achieve our objectives. You will lead a small, curious and close-knit team to ensure optimum asset lifespan and work closely with our operational teams to optimise the maintenance of our assets and to accurately interpret the data the assets emit. By creating and embedding a proactive approach to asset management, you will guide our field-based teams, driven by asset data-based decisions. Your team's purpose will be to develop and maintain annual network management plans, which reduce the volume and cost of water leakage across our network. Working in line with challenging and industry targets, you will also help to improve the performance of our wastewater networks and sewage treatment works.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading a small team to analyse data and produce maintenance plans to manage our water and wastewater networks
- Analysing and understanding the risk and criticality of our networks
- Accountability for leakage targeting and producing plans to ensure that annual leakage targets are met
- Developing and managing relationships with all internal and external customers and managing contractual obligations to the customer (e.g. MOD, DIO), along with regulatory obligations (e.g. Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Local Authorities or Public Health)
- Developing sustainable and dynamic Operations & Maintenance and Annual Capital Investment plans that consider asset network condition, cost, risk and performance
- Investigating issues and recommending innovative and cost-effective solutions
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience of end-to-end leadership and management
- Knowledge and understanding of clean and wastewater networks gained in a similar role
- Specific Water Industry knowledge such as networks, flow and pressure hydraulics, leakage management and sewer maintenance
- Programme planning knowledge and budget management experience
- Advanced IT skills, including MS Office and knowledge of work management systems or network management systems
- Confidence to communicate with all hierarchical levels and able to interpret technical information effectively
- A very high standard of written and verbal communication, including planning, prioritisation and presentation skills
Our ideal candidate will be a collaborative, persuasive and amiable individual who has gained direct or indirect water industry experience within a private setting or via a statutory undertaker. You will enjoy the interpersonal side of your role and work effectively with your colleagues, particularly those within Operations & Maintenance field-based roles. You will support your team to reach their full potential and look forward to developing your small, friendly and hard-working team. About you:
Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must:
- Meet the UK Security Vetting clearance requirements for the role which includes, but is not limited to, the successful candidate being a full-time resident of the UK for the past 5 years
- You will need a full, valid driving licence and be able to travel independently to sites that are frequently away from public transport routes
