At Ancala Water Services, we provide specialist water and wastewater services to the UK Ministry of Defence, operating under a 25-year PFI contract. We deliver essential water, wastewater, fire system maintenance and specialist estate management services to over 1,000 sites throughout England and Wales.
Joining our close knit, impactful commercial team, you will be responsible for delivering high-value commercial outcomes arising from our PFI contract. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Contract & Legal Manager, you'll lead on commercial execution of claims, change-in-law positions, regulatory negotiations, contract amendments and converting contractual and level entitlement into financial recovery, risk reduction and long-term value. This role focuses on negotiation, financial modelling and claims management so it's crucial you have experience of this from a previous role.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage key commercial claims, valuations and negotiations
- Analyse contract events using financial modelling, scenario planning and risk assessment
- Work with regulators and the Contracting Authority within approved legal parameters
- Support changes in law, regulatory matters and contract amendments
- Interpret contract provisions to inform strategy, settlements and steer business decisions
- Creating and delivering monthly executive-level reports
- Support delivery of the commercial strategy across performance, extension, risk, handback and exit
- Support the Senior Commercial Contract & Legal Manager with performance regime, risk allocation and ad-hoc requirements
Essential Skill, Knowledge and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in a commercial management role with experience of leading negotiations with external stakeholders and/or regulators
- Proven ability to develop and defend financial and commercial positions
- Experience of managing complex contract arrangements in a PFI agreement
- Ability to identify and manage wider obligations arising from statute, regulations and common law
- Ability to carry out research, analyse results and present them to steer business decisions
- Experience of financial modelling, valuation and cost analysis
- Extensive understanding of complex contract administration
- Excellent IT and data analysis skills, including MS Office
- Excellent communication skills and capable of stakeholder engagement at all levels
About you:
Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must:
- Meet the UK Security Vetting requirements for the role which includes, but is not limited to, the successful candidate being a full-time resident of the UK for the past 5 years and an enhanced DBS Check
- Possess a valid driving licence and be comfortable driving to different sites regularly across our operational areas. There will also be overnight stays on occasion
