The Core Resource Management (CRM) team is looking for a Platform Software Engineer to help us build and maintain the Kubernetes-powered platform that underpins Anaplan. We’re after someone who loves engineering, is excited by the chance to use Rust to create robust and elegant solutions, and wants to make an impact from day one. Specifically, you'll be working on a cost optimisation project to track what hosting resources our customers are using and automatically right-size them (either larger or smaller). It's a fast-paced and strategically important project that we hope excites you as much as it excites us.
Your Impact
- Drive Platform Efficiency: You will design, build, and maintain the automated right-sizing tools that optimise Anaplan’s Kubernetes platform, directly impacting our cloud resource usage and driving strategic cost savings.
- Deliver High-Quality Systems: You’ll write clean, efficient, and robust Rust code to build high performance services that are critical to the platform's stability and scalability.
- Champion DevOps & Reliability: You will take ownership of your services throughout their lifecycle—from drafting Helm charts and Jenkins pipelines to setting up alerting, dashboards, and automated testing.
- Shape Engineering Practices: As an engineer, you will influence our technical direction by participating in weekly system design discussions, conducting thorough code reviews, and helping to mentor junior team members.
- Collaborate Across Boundaries: You’ll work closely with team members and the wider engineering community in our York office, helping to align our infrastructure efforts with the broader company strategy.
Your Skills
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend or systems-level language (e.g., Rust, Go, C++, Python or Java) and a strong enthusiasm for working primarily in Rust.
- Delivery: A track record of delivering complex projects into production. Hands-on experience making frequent deployments to live environments. Ideally practicing true CICD.
- Observability: Experience implementing and utilising monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog) to maintain system health and reliability.
- Experience working effectively in cross-functional Agile teams, collaborating closely with product managers and other engineering teams.
Desirable
- Prior experience with platform cost optimisation, performance profiling, or capacity planning (FinOps) is a huge plus.
