At Anaplan, our calculation engine is the heart of our platform, powering real-time business planning for the world’s largest enterprises. We are looking for an experienced and influential software engineer to join our core R&D team, to help us build the next generation of this engine. This is a true research and development role where you will solve deeply complex problems in high-performance, distributed computing and directly influence the future of our product.
Your Impact- Develop Critical Features: Lead the design and development of complex features in our calculation engine, impacting recalculation logic, in-memory data structures, and high-speed data I/O pipelines.
- Optimise Performance: Design, develop, and optimise novel algorithms for high-performance computing (HPC), ensuring our engine achieves maximum performance on target hardware architectures (including GPUs).
- Own Complex Systems: Take full ownership of a critical component, from architectural design, through to robust testing and deployment in a production environment.
- Champion Innovation: Lead research into new approaches and set standards for modern DevOps and software development best practices within the team.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a curiosity to learn and share feedback.
- Experience designing and building high-performance, multi-threaded, and/or distributed systems.
- Proficiency researching and developing bespoke algorithms and data structures to solve domain-specific problems.
- Expertise in a low-level systems language, preferably Rust or C++. (If you are an expert in one, we are happy to help you master the other).
- Comfort and willingness to work across languages and components as required.
- A proven ability to analyse, debug, and solve complex technical challenges.
- A track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading technical design discussions.
- A "quality-first" mindset, with a deep-seated belief in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.
- Experience with HPC and/or applying the principles of mechanical sympathy and hardware-aware software design.
- Experience with CUDA C++ and GPU programming.
- Experience with language design and compiler implementation.
- An understanding of functional programming principles and concepts.
