At Anaplan, we are a high‑growth company leading the way in enterprise planning. We are seeking a self‑motivated Observability Engineer to join the Observability Infrastructure team. In this role you will work on tools used to collect and analyze Observability telemetry (Logs, Metrics, and Traces). You will enable engineers across the business to see how their services are performing and interacting in a scalable, performant, and cost‑effective manner. This role requires you to be in our London office twice a week.
Your Impact:
- Administer observability infrastructure.
- Deploy and configure OTEL agents to collect telemetry and visualise the data in Grafana.
- Pair with colleagues to build everything from rapid prototypes to highly testable platform capabilities.
- Coach and collaborate with platform and product engineers to share best practices on observability techniques and deliver value.
- Develop custom code in a testable and sustainable way. The team is most fluent in Python, but we are always happy to use the right language to solve a problem.
- Work with Terraform to deploy Dashboards and Alerts to our Grafana instances in a managed and repeatable way.
- Translate product goals into prioritized platform requirements.
- Operate in a complex and evolving environment. Anaplan provides services using multiple cloud vendors and our data centers.
- Collect data from Kubernetes, VMs, and bare metal systems.
- Encourage and enable the adoption of observability tools to drive great decisions in the business.
Your Qualifications:
- Experience with TDD (Test Driven Development) and BDD (Behavioural Driven Development).
- Experience working with Kubernetes.
- Experience with DevOps tools like Terraform, Jenkins, or Ansible.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- We are looking for people with experience with at least some of these tools or similar products and enthusiasm for learning.
- Familiarity with Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana (TIG).
