We work with the battery industry to optimise dry electrode coating, manufacturing better and more sustainable batteries at lower cost. Anaphite was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in central Bristol in the Southwest of the UK.

Summary: We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Manager to join our Operations team and help plan, coordinate, and deliver aligned, impactful projects across the business. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams across science, commercial, finance, and engineering to bring clarity, alignment, and momentum to our work. You will support teams with structure, resources, clear communication, and thoughtful problem-solving, helping to ensure projects are delivered smoothly, on time, and within budget.

The candidate will act as a collaborative partner to project teams: coordinating activities, maintaining project documentation, identifying and addressing challenges quickly, and supporting continuous improvement in Anaphite’s project management systems. You will also help train relevant team members in best-practice project management procedures, enabling teams to work more effectively and consistently.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Project Governance, Tools and Reporting
    • Promote consistent use of agreed project management processes, ensuring plans, risks, budgets and deliverables are actively managed.
    • Provide training to team members on best practice project management procedures, when requested.
    • Facilitate regular reviews to verify correct usage of project management systems.
    • Drive continuous improvement of Anaphite’s project management tools and processes.
    • Ensure changes are approved and communicated to all relevant stakeholders before implementation.
    • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved allocations.
    • Collaborate with teams to anticipate resource requirements and secure availability in line with project schedules.
    • Act as a central point of coordination across teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and milestones.
    • Prepare clear, concise project reporting for work package leads, senior leadership and relevant governance meetings, covering progress, risks, blockers, budget status and upcoming decisions.
  • Management of Internal Projects
    • Monitor timelines and ensure internal teams remain aligned with project milestones and deliverables.
    • Support work package leads in tracking progress and meeting deliverable deadlines.
    • Assess and report on risks associated with internal projects.
    • Proactively identify potential blockers and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve them.
  • External and Grant-Funded Projects
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and reporting for externally funded projects.
    • Manage expectations of external stakeholders and partners regarding timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
    • Ensure work package leads are informed and up to date with grant-related deliverables.
    • Identify and report risks specific to grant-funded projects on a regular basis.
    • Coordinate evidence gathering for grant claims, monitoring reports, audits and milestone reviews, ensuring technical, financial and delivery inputs are collected on time.
    • Coordinate with external partners, suppliers and customers where required to support project timelines, deliverables and information flow.
  • Project Lifecycle
    • Assist with project initiation, ensuring scope, responsibilities, budget, and plans are clearly defined and delivered promptly.
    • Coordinate with internal teams to confirm resource availability and appropriate allocation during setup.
    • Facilitate clear and effective communication within and across teams during the project setup phase.
    • Support teams to break projects into clear stages, agree key milestones and dependencies, and define what needs to be achieved before each stage can move forward.
    • Ensure projects are effectively closed out, with learnings well documented and carried through into new projects.

Proficiencies/Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously using best practice procedures.
  • Experience working within and between multidisciplinary teams specifically with a scientific or technical focus.
  • Proven ability to organise and clearly communicate project timelines, milestones, resources, budgets, dependencies and risks across multiple interdependent projects.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and keep within budgets.
  • Strong coordination and facilitation skills, fostering collaboration, accountability and shared ownership of milestones.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify blockers and work with others to resolve them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g. MS Project, Airtable, Asana, Trello).
  • A thoughtful and resourceful approach, with the ability to balance structure and flexibility to help teams succeed.

Desirable:

  • Relevant project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Interest in and understanding of battery technology.
  • Experience supporting externally funded, grant-funded, partner-led or customer-facing projects.

Salary/Benefits:

  • Base Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 annually depending on experience; Compelling sign on share options bonus with the potential for significant future value.
  • £1000 towards relocation expenses, if applicable.
