Our mission is to decarbonise and improve battery production by helping the industry to shift to dry electrode coating. We work with the battery industry to optimise dry electrode coating, manufacturing better and more sustainable batteries at lower cost. Anaphite was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in central Bristol in the Southwest of the UK.

Summary: Anaphite is going through a period of growth and we are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Manager to lead all Health and Safety activities across our company. The candidate will oversee risk management, drive continuous improvement, and develop policies that ensure a safe and compliant workplace. You will also promote a safety culture and support our employees in keeping themselves and others safe.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Oversee and improve the current Health and Safety Management System and its performance;
  • Lead the company Health and Safety committee;
  • Report on H&S performance and progress against plans and manage stakeholder relationships;
  • Create and deliver the annual H&S plan;
  • Monitor performance, initiate and manage improvement activities;
  • Conduct audits of areas and activities and safety checks of equipment and safety assets;
  • Keep up to date with regulatory requirements and maintain compliance;
  • Manage emergency plans and safety-related contracts;
  • Support employees in risk management and implementing safety controls;
  • Promote a strong culture of behavioural safety;
  • Provide training on safety management systems (such as Risk Assessment) and behavioural safety (such as Safety Leadership);
  • Ensure employees are proficient in safety-related matters;
  • Conduct safety inductions for employees and contractors;
  • Lead investigations and train others with the skills to do the same.

Required Proficiencies/Experience:

  • Essential:
  • Maintaining & developing the H&S Management System;
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety behaviours;
  • Worked in the Scientific industry and has lab experience;
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels;
  • Able to influence and guide others towards safe practices;
  • Works collaboratively with teams and stakeholders;
  • Proactive and self-motivated;
  • Comfortable in making decisions as well as advising decision-makers;
  • Listens and engages with the teams to understand concerns and provide solutions accordingly;
  • Solution-oriented mindset and willing to think outside the box whilst meeting compliance needs;
  • Nebosh/IOSH certified;
  • Experience in COSHH.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience with H&S Management System Implementation;
  • Experience with ISO45001;
  • Root Cause Analysis;
  • Atex Trained;
  • DSEAR Trained.

Salary/Benefits:

  • £47,817 - £58,685 annually depending on experience;
