Summary

Anaphite is seeking a commercially driven Senior Business Development Manager to support the growth and adoption of its next-generation battery electrode technologies. Based in Bristol, this role will focus on developing strategic customer and partner relationships across the battery and electrification sector, managing commercial opportunities from initial engagement through qualification and pipeline development.

The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with technical, strategy, and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities, support market expansion, and represent Anaphite at industry events and customer meetings. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in scaling breakthrough battery manufacturing technologies within a fast-growing climate tech company.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and customer relationships within the battery and electrification sectors.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a strong commercial pipeline to support Anaphite’s growth objectives.
  • Lead initial customer engagement activities, including qualification of opportunities, discovery discussions, and coordination of technical-commercial meetings.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across customers, partners, suppliers, and industry networks.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to align commercial activities with company objectives and technology development.
  • Assist the Leadership and Commercial teams in the development and execution of customer outreach, partnership, and market expansion strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver commercial presentations, proposals, and business cases to prospective customers and partners.
  • Represent Anaphite at conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, networking events, and customer meetings as a commercial ambassador for the company.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify emerging opportunities and strategic insights.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and commercial activities within CRM and reporting systems.
  • Support contract negotiations, partnership discussions, and commercial agreements in collaboration with leadership and legal teams.
  • Contribute to the overall commercialisation strategy and growth plans for Anaphite.
  • Work closely with the Senior Account Manager to ensure smooth handover of developed pipeline.

Proficiencies/Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Business Development, Commercial, Sales, or Partnership Management role within the electrification, battery materials, manufacturing, or related technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of the battery value chain, electrification market, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments alongside technical, engineering, and marketing teams.
  • Experience representing a company at industry conferences, exhibitions, or customer-facing events.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, scale-up or innovation-driven environment.
  • Ability to identify key customer stakeholders and map out customer procurement pathways.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and commercial reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience managing customer pipelines and leading commercial discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong coordination and facilitation skills, fostering collaboration, accountability and shared ownership of milestones.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify blockers and work with others to resolve them.
  • Evidence of professional development within a working environment.
  • Flexibility on working hours, due to a worldwide customer base.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Desirable:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Existing network of contacts within the battery supply chain, automotive OEM, or energy storage industries.
  • Experience working within a start-up or scale-up, business environment.
  • Knowledge of battery manufacturing processes and commercialisation pathways.
  • International business development experience across Europe, North America, and Asia.
  • Experience working with government-funded innovation programmes or collaborative R&D projects.
  • Experience supporting strategic partnerships, joint development agreements, or technology licensing discussions.

Salary/Benefits:

  • Base Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 annually depending on experience.
  • £1000 towards relocation expenses, if applicable.
