About Analog Devices
Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a global semiconductor leader that bridges the physical and digital worlds to enable breakthroughs at the Intelligent Edge. ADI combines analog, digital, and software technologies into solutions that help drive advancements in digitized factories, mobility, and digital healthcare, combat climate change, and reliably connect humans and the world.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Field Systems Applications Engineer to serve as the primary technical interface to aerospace, defense, and emerging autonomy customers. This individual will engage at the system architecture level, helping customers design and deploy advanced RF, microwave, communications, and navigation subsystems for drones, autonomous platforms, radar, and electronic warfare applications. This is not a traditional component-level applications role. The focus is system solution enablement — spanning semiconductor, module, and subsystem integration.
Key Responsibilities
- System-Level Technical Engagement
- Act as trusted technical advisor to defense startups, scale-ups, and established primes
- Engage across full architectures: RF signal chains (DC–40+ GHz), radar and electronic warfare subsystems, software-defined radio platforms, MEMS-based inertial navigation and stabilization, power distribution and data conversion
- Guide customers from concept through prototype and into production
- Architecture & Reference Design Leadership
- Support customers in partitioning system architectures
- Recommend semiconductor, module, and subsystem solutions
- Enable sensor fusion architectures combining RF, navigation, and digital processing
- Drive reuse of evaluation boards, prototypes, and rapid-iteration hardware
- Program Acceleration
- Help customers reduce time to field
- Minimise unnecessary qualification cycles through intelligent reuse strategies
- Bridge internal engineering teams (RF, MEMS, software, power) with external customer programs
- Provide structured technical feedback to influence internal product roadmaps
- Market & Ecosystem Development
- Support expansion of defense and autonomy ecosystems in the United Kingdom
- Identify emerging drone, EW, and radar programs early
- Strengthen relationships with system integrators and government-linked organizations
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 7+ years in Applications Engineering, Field Systems Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- Broad semiconductor knowledge: analog, data converters, power, RF/microwave
- Experience in one or more of the following: radar systems, electronic warfare, military communications, software-defined radio, MEMS IMUs and navigation systems, autonomous platforms/drones
- Fluent German and English; German nationality required
What Success Looks Like
- Customers view you as a system-level partner, not a component supplier
- You influence architectural decisions early in the design cycle
- You enable rapid prototype-to-production transitions
- You strengthen the company's credibility in advanced defense subsystems
