A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Restructuring & Insolvency Associate to join a global firm at its highly regarded national practice in Manchester. Working as part of a well-established cross-office team, you will advise a broad range of clients on both contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters, including office holders, lenders, directors, insolvency practitioners and other key stakeholders.

This role offers excellent exposure to complex restructuring work, insolvency litigation and distressed transactions within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent role for a solicitor looking to develop their expertise across the full spectrum of restructuring and insolvency work. You'll be encouraged to take ownership of matters, build client relationships and play an active role in business development activities. The team is known for its collaborative culture, providing Associates with direct partner support, high-quality work and genuine opportunities for long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising office holders, lenders, directors and other stakeholders on restructuring and insolvency matters
  • Acting on distressed business and asset sales
  • Managing a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters
  • Handling insolvency litigation, including:
    • Breach of duty claims
    • Transactions at an undervalue
    • Preference claims
    • Other insolvency-related disputes
  • Supporting partners on complex restructuring and insolvency transactions
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key referrers, including insolvency practitioners and accountancy firms
  • Contributing to business development initiatives, client seminars and thought leadership activities
  • Managing files efficiently and meeting billing and performance targets
  • Assisting with the continued growth of the team's profile across the North West market

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 4 years' PQE in restructuring and insolvency
  • Experience in contentious, non-contentious, or mixed insolvency and restructuring work
  • Strong technical and commercial skills
  • The ability to manage matters independently where appropriate
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
