At Amwins Global Risks, we succeed together. We are not ‘just another London broker’ placing risks and signing contracts. We are forging relationships that are built to last. With over six hundred employees around the world and a global footprint across more than 150 countries, we have cemented our place as a top 10 contributor to Lloyd’s.

Insurance is a relationship-based business, and achieving success means hiring the best talent in the industry. When you join us, we will encourage and support your professional and personal development as we invest in you and your learning to help you succeed and grow.

We believe in a flat organisational structure that prizes expertise and relationships equally. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not have an executive team sitting on top of the business. We have built a workplace where talent, collaboration and inclusivity are valued, and our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion helps cultivate an open, welcoming workplace where everyone who works with us can be themselves.

We are seeking an Actuary to join our growing Data and Analytics team. The team is responsible for developing consistent pricing practices across AGR, including pricing model development, portfolio monitoring, profitability studies, product development, and review of carrier reserving estimates. You will work closely with Underwriting, Claims, Cat Modelling, Data & Reporting, Change Management, and IT. You will own and manage rating models, define data standards, and ensure our pricing infrastructure meets current and future business needs. You will become a technical expert and trusted advisor to underwriters, management and the wider business on pricing and related matters.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing models for various lines of business, ensuring they reflect current market conditions, claims experience and risk appetite, working with project managers, business analysts, developers, and QA testers.
  • Train underwriters on pricing models and assist with evaluation of large individual accounts or portfolio deals incorporating exposure and experience rating.
  • Analyse loss data, bordereaux and claims information to inform pricing assumptions, identify emerging risks, and recommend ongoing data requirements to improve future pricing.
  • Evaluate systems and data sources for suitability and potential integration into pricing solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with underwriters to identify where the team can add value and understand evolving business needs.
  • Deliver monthly performance analyses to identify profitability issues and business opportunities, assisting underwriters in developing action plans.
  • Evaluate profitability of new business opportunities and assist in the development of new products.
  • Analyse rate monitoring data to advise on the impact of emerging rating trends on underwriting strategy.
  • Develop internal reserve views as a sense check against carrier estimates.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to Lloyd's minimum standards, keeping abreast of industry best practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date pricing model documentation with appropriate approvals.
  • Support other actuarial and underwriting team projects including M&A and business planning analyses.

Competencies/Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent.
  • Extensive insurance pricing experience in the London Market, particularly Lloyd's.
  • Strong technical pricing skills across multiple classes of business (Property and Marine knowledge preferred).

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn SQL, Python, R, or other analytical tools.
  • Experience developing pricing methodologies with limited data and building models in Excel and specialist pricing systems.
  • Knowledge of RMS catastrophe models (desirable).

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to interpret complex data and manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to establish credibility with senior stakeholders and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Initiative-taker who proactively develops and implements best practice approaches while continuously seeking to enhance processes and drive innovation.
  • Experience working in agile environments within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborative team player who can operate autonomously when required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, producing accurate, high-quality work.
