HOURS: 40 hrs per week
THE ROLE: We are seeking dedicated and vigilant individuals to join our team as Security Search Officers. In this critical role, you will help protect people and infrastructure by conducting thorough searches and maintaining a strong security presence. This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to public safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Searching the red zone areas
- Looking for any suspect packages or suspicious people
- Maintain accurate records of searches and report any findings promptly
- Work collaboratively with law enforcement and security partners
- Provide reassurance and guidance to members of the public
- Follow strict protocols and procedures to ensure safety and compliance
- Remain alert to potential threats and escalate concerns appropriately
- Must have the correct personal identification documentation at all times
- Must be Security Industry Association (“SIA”) trained and certified
SKILLS:
- Strong observational and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including days, nights and weekends
- Previous experience in Railway
- Need to know or be willing to be trained on HOT/WHAT protocols
- Will be subject to Department for Transport test visits
LICENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- You must have a current SIA DS Licence
- Possession of a First Aid at Work Certificate is desirable
INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS:
Eligibility documents helpful to bring with you to interview: Passport or Full Birth Certificate; Utility Bill showing current address and dated within 3 months; Proof of National Insurance (Payslips cannot be used) such as NI card, P45, P60, benefits or HMRC letter.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- You must be able to provide a checkable 5-year employment history for vetting purposes (this can include full-time education or periods in receipt of benefits)
- Possession of a First Aid at Work Certificate is desirable
