AmTrust is a global insurance provider offering risk-management solutions and business underwriting tailored to the unique needs of each client. AmTrust International underwrites over $2.5bn of gross written premiums and employs more than 1500 people in 14 countries. We are looking for an underwriting delivery lead to join our London based team. This is a high-profile role that sits at the centre of our Specialty business, leading the delivery of strategic underwriting initiatives that support profitable growth, operational excellence, and strong governance across our international portfolio.

This role will play a critical part in shaping and delivering strategic projects, including new product launches, market expansion activities, portfolio optimisation initiatives, and complex underwriting transactions. In addition, you will provide oversight and coordination for the Australia Branch, ensuring effective governance, performance management, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the delivery of strategic underwriting initiatives across the Specialty business, managing projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring agreed objectives, timelines, and business benefits are achieved.
  • Drive underwriting growth and performance through the development of new products, support of market expansion initiatives, execution of complex underwriting transactions, and identification of opportunities to improve profitability, premium income, and underwriting quality.
  • Provide robust governance and oversight across all initiatives, establishing effective reporting frameworks, monitoring progress, managing risks and issues, and delivering clear insight to senior leadership, including the Chief Underwriting Officer and Underwriting Management Committee.
  • Act as the primary coordination point for Australia Branch governance, regulatory oversight, and business planning, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, risk appetite, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong relationships across underwriting, risk, compliance, finance, operations, IT, and external partners to drive collaboration, support portfolio optimisation, monitor performance against plans, and deliver sustainable business growth.

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience delivering complex large scale projects or programmes within an insurance, underwriting, or specialty insurance environment, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive initiatives from strategy through to implementation. You will possess a strong understanding of underwriting principles and portfolio management, supported by excellent project management skills across planning, governance, execution, and reporting. A strong analytical mindset, commercial awareness, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into measurable outcomes are essential.

Just as importantly, you will be a hands-on, delivery-focused individual who takes ownership, gets stuck into the detail, and personally drives projects forward rather than simply coordinating activity. This role requires a proactive "doer" who can navigate ambiguity, challenge where appropriate, and ensure actions are completed to achieve successful outcomes. You will also be an effective communicator with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders, building collaborative relationships across functions, and delivering results in a complex environment. Advanced Microsoft Office skills are required, while a recognised project management qualification (such as Prince2 or PMI) and/or a professional insurance qualification (such as CII) would be advantageous.

To apply, simply submit your CV and our team will be in touch.
