We’re looking for an experienced Project Focussed Senior IT Engineer to join our team on a 9-month fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working across both infrastructure and networking, playing a key role in maintaining and improving a modern, business-critical IT environment.
The Role
This is a hands-on, varied position where you’ll be responsible for supporting, maintaining and enhancing our IT systems. You’ll work across core infrastructure including servers, cloud platforms and storage, while also being actively involved in networking – from troubleshooting connectivity issues to supporting network upgrades and security improvements. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and third-party suppliers, helping to ensure a stable, secure and high-performing IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain core IT infrastructure, including servers, storage and virtual environments
- Manage and optimise cloud-based services (e.g. Microsoft 365, Azure or similar)
- Support and troubleshoot networking environments (LAN/WAN, switches, firewalls, VPNs)
- Monitor system performance and proactively address issues
- Contribute to infrastructure and network improvement projects
- Ensure systems are secure, patched and aligned with best practice
- Provide technical support and escalation for complex issues
- Work with external vendors to deliver solutions and resolve incidents
About You
You’ll be a proactive and well-rounded engineer with strong technical skills across both infrastructure and networking. We’re looking for someone who has:
- Solid experience in a senior IT engineering or infrastructure role
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments and virtualisation (e.g. VMware/Hyper-V)
- Experience with Powershell & Automation
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 and/or Azure
- Good networking knowledge – including switches, firewalls and general network troubleshooting
- An understanding of IT security principles and best practice
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a calm, methodical approach
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
