Artificial Intelligence Product Manager

6-Month Fixed Term Contract (opportunity for extension or permanent)

We're working with a large UK organisation that is looking for a commercially minded AI Product Manager to define the strategy for a new enterprise-wide AI platform.

The organisation already has several AI products live, including customer-facing chatbots and voice assistants. They have grown up separately, with knowledge bases and integrations spread across different suppliers. The goal now is a single, central AI foundation. It will be built on Model Context Protocol (MCP) and enterprise integration, and it will bring the organisation's data, APIs and knowledge into one place for every future AI agent to use.

This role will set that direction. Over the first six months, you'll write the product strategy and business case, then present it to senior leadership to secure investment. If the strategy is approved, the work moves into building the team and the capability behind it.

The Role

• Audit current AI use cases across customer, colleague and supplier experiences, then prioritise them by value, feasibility, risk and strategic fit.
• Define business outcomes, value measures, capability requirements and acceptance criteria for priority use cases.
• Map the knowledge, data, APIs, systems and workflows involved, including ownership, dependencies and quality gaps.
• Lead the commercial and operating-model assessment of build, buy and partner options, including MCP, RAG and enterprise integration platforms.
• Define proof-of-concept hypotheses and measurable success criteria.
• Set governance, ownership, decision rights and risk appetite, working with privacy, security and data specialists.
• Own the product vision, strategy and roadmap, and develop the phased implementation roadmap jointly with the Architect.
• Build and present an evidence-based business case to senior leadership to secure investment.

What We're Looking For

• You've built an AI product from scratch, owning it from the first idea through to launch, rather than joining one that was already under way.
• You've written and owned a business case or commercial strategy, and you can show the value of AI in commercial terms, not just technical ones.
• You've worked in large, complex organisations, ideally across multiple business units, stakeholder groups and suppliers.
• You know enough about generative AI, LLMs, agent-based systems, RAG and APIs to challenge technical assumptions and work well with architects. A development background isn't required.
• You're confident presenting a strategy to senior leadership and handling the questions on your own.
• You're hands‑on and happy to produce the work yourself: discovery, workshops, documentation and board papers.
• Experience with MCP or enterprise AI platforms is highly desirable.
