The Role
We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Researcher to join the Talent Acquisition team supporting a leading Tier 1 Global Investment Bank. This role sits within the Front Office recruitment function and operates under an "always-on" market intelligence model. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving detailed market maps across revenue-generating areas including Investment Banking, Global Markets, Sales & Trading, and Equities.
The position is heavily research-focused, combining structured secondary research with primary market outreach. It is designed for individuals who enjoy analysing competitive landscapes, identifying talent pools, and developing strategic insights that inform hiring decisions at senior levels. Key Accountabilities
- Market Mapping & Competitive Intelligence
- Develop and maintain comprehensive market maps across Front Office divisions
- Identify key competitors, team structures, reporting lines, and revenue-generating desks
- Track talent movements across banks, hedge funds, and financial institutions
- Maintain up-to-date intelligence on organisational changes and market developments
- Ensure mapping data is regularly refreshed and validated
- Research & Outreach
- Conduct detailed secondary research using publicly available sources and internal systems
- Perform primary research through targeted outreach and strategic cold calling
- Engage prospective candidates to gather market insight while representing the firm professionally
- Build and maintain long-term talent pipelines across niche Front Office areas
- Data Management & Reporting
- Organise and manage large volumes of market intelligence data
- Update internal trackers and mapping systems with precision
- Share insights and competitor intelligence with recruitment stakeholders
- Contribute to strategic hiring discussions through informed market observations
- Collaboration
- Partner closely with Front Office recruiters and business stakeholders
- Support proactive talent identification for future hiring needs
- Assist with targeted sourcing initiatives when required
Skills & Requirements
- Relevant experience in Recruitment research, sourcing, or market intelligence within a fast-paced Financial or Professional Services / Investment Banking environment
- Experience in cold calling or direct outreach with confidence, resilience, and the ability to engage professionally with senior financial professionals.
- A foundational understanding of how investment banks operate, particularly within revenue-generating Front Office divisions, alongside the motivation to build deep expertise in competitive intelligence.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities; can interpret organisational structures and identify patterns across complex financial institutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when gathering information through strategic conversations.
- Highly detail-oriented, capable of maintaining accurate and structured market maps that evolve over time, while managing significant amounts of information and ensuring its ongoing accuracy.
- Self-motivated with the discipline to maintain and refresh data consistently
