The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an executive recruiter to join our growing Executive Recruiting team, supporting Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), one of the largest global asset management organizations of any full-service securities firm, with more than 50 years of history, a presence in 26 countries, and a total of $2 trillion AUM.
We are looking for a seasoned Executive Recruiter to lead full-cycle recruitment for senior leadership roles globally across our investment management business. This role requires deep expertise in executive search, strategic talent mapping, and delivering high-impact hires in a confidential, high-stakes environment – while providing a white glove experience to both hiring managers and candidates.
As an executive recruiter you will own and execute on Executive Director and Managing Director-level searches, globally across a variety of teams and functions, including investment teams for both public and private markets. In close partnership with senior leaders, you will be responsible for full-cycle of recruiting from market research and talent mapping through the assessment process and offer negotiations.
Candidates will be required to attend the client office (Canary Wharf, London) three - four days per week. Flexibility to support stakeholders and candidates across multiple time zones will also be required.
Key Accountabilities
- Own full-cycle executive searches end-to-end, from intake and role scoping through pipeline generation, assessment, offer negotiation, and close - for Executive Director and Managing Director level roles across the entire MSIM business globally.
- Provide an extraordinary level of partnership to senior leaders in shaping search strategy, sourcing, engaging, and recruiting future leaders of MSIM.
- Conduct research and establish talent networks to develop a map of targeted talent, companies, and geographies based on role types.
- Drive strategic conversations with business partners around sourcing and hiring strategies to meet business objectives.
- Source active and passive candidates through creative and strategic sourcing methods including, but not limited to, employee referrals, networking, research, and advanced search tools.
- Deliver insightful regular updates on the market, competitor analysis, and market news
- Developing prospects for both open and opportunistic openings, assessing and screening, and making recommendations to leadership
- Lead C-level client meetings and provide regular communication on search progress and candidate engagement techniques
- Design and negotiate complex compensation packages and close offers with executive candidates.
- Provide a high-touch, thorough, top-notch candidate experience for both internal and external candidates
- Act as a brand ambassador ensuring every touchpoint—with candidates, hiring leaders, and the business reflects Morgan Stanley’s core values.
Skills & Requirements
Must haves:
- Previous corporate and/or retained full-cycle Executive Recruiting experience, with a track record of supporting senior level roles (Executive Director level and above)
- Proven success hiring senior-level professionals across Asset & Investment Management, Wealth Management, Private Markets or Alternative Investments.
- Strong understanding of investment management functions, including private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate investing, distribution, sales and marketing.
- Extensive research background in identifying and mapping key talent at the leadership level
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted, consultative partnerships with senior stakeholders
- Experience with the sourcing of candidates using various tools/technologies – LinkedIn Recruiter, Eightfold, Workday, etc. – leveraging and incorporating AI into your day to day workflows.
- Compelling communicator – both verbally and in writing – that engages and influences senior Stakeholders.
- Self-starter: the successful candidate will always be looking to learn and take on more responsibility
- Self-directed, independent, and able to proactively address the needs of the Executive team, which is often fast-paced, and simultaneously long-term in nature
- Strong time management skills.
- Experience working with high level of discretion and confidentiality
