Role: Computer Science Teacher (Computer Science Lead) Contract: Full time, Part time


Main Purpose of the Role



  • To lead and develop the Computer Science curriculum across the school

  • To teach Computer Science as a subject lead

  • To inspire pupils to achieve their best in Computer Science

  • To contribute to the wider school community


Key Responsibilities



  • Lead the planning, delivery, and development of the Computer Science curriculum

  • Teach engaging and challenging Computer Science lessons to all year groups as required

  • Monitor and track pupil progress, using assessment data to inform teaching

  • Support and mentor colleagues in the delivery of Computer Science

  • Organise and lead enrichment activities, clubs, and events related to Computer Science

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders about pupil progress and school activities

  • Contribute to whole-school priorities and participate in meetings as required

  • Maintain high standards of teaching, behaviour and safeguarding in line with school policies


Person Specification


Qualifications and training



  • Qualified teacher status

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject (or significant teaching experience in the subject)

  • Evidence of recent professional development relevant to this role


Experience



  • Successful teaching experience in Computer Science

  • Experience of curriculum development and/or leading a subject area

  • Experience working with pupils with a range of abilities and needs


Skills and knowledge



  • Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science

  • Ability to plan and deliver outstanding lessons

  • Effective assessment and data analysis skills

  • Good IT skills and familiarity with educational technology

  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies

  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
