Role Overview
The Headteacher will have overall responsibility for the academic leadership, operational management, and strategic development of Green Birds Madrasah. The primary focus of the role is to oversee and drive the continued development, quality, and expansion of the madrasah, ensuring excellence across teaching, learning, safeguarding, and administration.
This role requires a confident leader with strong vision, initiative, and organisational capability. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping Green Birds' future direction. As Green Birds progresses with its long-term objectives, there will be opportunities for further leadership responsibility and professional growth for the right individual.
The Headteacher will be directly accountable to the Management Team and will work closely with them to deliver the organisation's strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategic Development
- Lead the ongoing development, improvement, and growth of the madrasah - including curriculum planning and development
- Monitor teaching quality through observations, feedback, and performance management processes.
- Oversee student assessment, reporting, and progression frameworks.
- Ensure full compliance with UK safeguarding, health & safety, and regulatory expectations.
- Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the madrasah, ensuring smooth and effective delivery of all classes and activities.
- Work with administrative staff to manage fees, budgets, resources, and operational logistics.
- Staff Leadership & Recruitment
- Support the Management Team with recruitment, induction, training, and supervision of teaching and administrative staff.
- Create and manage staff timetables.
- Support staff development and foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable working culture.
- Community & Parental Engagement
- Build strong, professional relationships with parents, students, and the wider community.
- Promote Green Birds and support student admissions, retention, and community engagement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate of a recognised Islamic institution (e.g. Dars-e-Nizami, Alimiyyah, Islamic Studies degree, or equivalent).
- Strong foundational knowledge and teaching ability in:
- Qur'an Recitation, Hifz, and Tajweed
- Arabic
- Islamic Studies (Aqeedah, Fiqh, Seerah, Hadith, Islamic History)
Desirable Qualities
- Previous experience as a Headteacher, Deputy Head, or Lead Teacher.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification.
- Familiarity with modern, student-centred teaching approaches.
- Ability to inspire and motivate young Muslims growing up in the UK.
- Strong organisational, time-management, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Confidence using basic school management systems and digital tools.
