We are currently looking to appoint an experienced English teacher to teach in both Key Stages 3 and 4. The position commences this academic year 2025/26.
Reports to: Deputy Head teacher
Start Date: 23 February 2026
Contract: Permanent – Part Time
Pay/Salary: Competitive pro rata (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Al Madina School for Girls (ASG) is an independent Muslim girls secondary school located near the Barking/Ilford boundary in Essex. The school aims to provide excellent education for girls aged 11 to 16 years, placing particular emphasis on building good character, acquiring skills and instilling value for learning.
The ideal candidate will either have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or have suitable experience as an English teacher. Our aim is to have staff committed to the wellbeing and educational aspirations of all ASG pupils. Candidates who do not have QTS but hold a degree and/or have previous teaching experience will also be considered.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced English teacher with a focus on GCSE English Language to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the intellectual and spiritual growth of our students within a unique and rewarding school environment.
Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver engaging and stimulating lesson plans aligned with the Pearson Edexcel English curriculum.
- Utilise a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles, promoting critical thinking, research skills, and language analysis in students.
- Set clear learning objectives and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support student development.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respectful discussion and intellectual curiosity.
- Contribute to the development of the English curriculum, collaborating with colleagues and participating in departmental meetings.
- Play an active role in the school community, attending staff meetings and school events.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and complete relevant documentation.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (Desired).
- A strong track record of teaching English to a similar age group.
