What you'll be doing

  • Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients to a draft-ready standard, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and variance commentary
  • Performing month-end close procedures, including prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and intercompany adjustments
  • Reviewing bookkeeping outputs completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and in compliance with Making Tax Digital requirements
  • Supporting year-end preparation, including schedules and working papers for statutory accounts and audit readiness
  • Assisting with new client onboarding, including chart of accounts setup, data migration checks, and Xero configuration
  • Liaising directly with clients to explain management accounts outputs, variances, and financial performance
  • Maintaining accurate records within Karbon and the team's document management systems
  • Actively engaging with training and development activities in support of ongoing qualification progress

What you'll bring

  • Minimum five years' experience in an accounting, finance, or practice environment
  • Demonstrable experience preparing or contributing to management accounts
  • Solid grounding in double-entry accounting, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of VAT, including standard, flat rate, and cash accounting schemes
  • Proficiency in Xero; experience with Dext, Karbon, or Silverfin is an advantage
  • Currently studying towards AAT Level 4, ACA, or ACCA (part-qualified)
  • AAT Level 3 completed or in progress
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied client portfolio to deadline
  • Clear, confident communication skills for client-facing work

Desirable

  • AAT Level 4 completed or near completion
  • ACA/ACCA student registered with a recognised body
  • Experience in an outsourced or multi-client environment
  • Awareness of FRS 102 reporting requirements

What's on offer
