The role
We're looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join our Accounts team in Manchester. You'll manage a portfolio of clients, oversee accounts preparation, and play an active role in supporting and developing junior colleagues. This is a hands-on role with real client contact and clear progression within a well-regarded and growing firm.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing accounts files, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns for directors to a standard ready for Accounts Director review
- Meeting clients regularly to discuss their accounts and act as a key point of contact for ongoing service delivery
- Reviewing the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback and ensuring review points are addressed before submission
- Preparing files and associated reports ready for the Accounts Director to debrief clients following review
- Ensuring accounts and tax returns are submitted in line with firm compliance and close-down procedures
- Mentoring colleagues from apprentice level through to Accounts Senior, and supporting the Accounts Director in day-to-day team management
- Managing client diaries and workflow to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
- Monitoring client fee recovery and flagging concerns to the Accounts Director where renegotiation may be required
- Identifying and recommending cross-sell opportunities from across AMS Group's full range of services
What you'll bring
- ACCA or ACA qualified (or equivalent) with at least three years of post-qualification experience
- Strong background in practice, with proven experience in accounts preparation including FRS102, FRS102 Section 1A and FRS105
- Experience with consolidations
- A track record of building and maintaining client relationships
- Confidence in mentoring colleagues and supporting team development
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly at all levels
- The ability to take ownership, use initiative and resolve issues independently
