AMS are looking for a Commercial Insurance Contractor for an initial 3-month contract. It can be based remotely or in London.
Purpose of the RoleTo lead and deliver insurance strategy engagements for corporate and public sector clients, helping them optimise their insurance programmes, risk financing, and insurance operations. The role combines client advisory, project delivery, stakeholder management, and business development, while collaborating with specialist teams to provide integrated risk, resilience, and insurance solutions.
Responsibilities as a Commercial Insurance Contractor- Assess and develop insurance strategies, balancing risk transfer and risk retention to align with client objectives.
- Review and strengthen the integration between insurance programmes and broader risk management frameworks.
- Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of clients' insurance functions, operating models, and governance processes.
- Lead insurance broker and third-party provider reviews, including procurement and broker tender exercises.
- Analyse claims management processes and recommend improvements to drive efficiency and value.
- Advise on alternative risk financing solutions, including captives, self-insurance, and other risk retention structures.
- A keen interest in the commercial insurance market with an understanding of the latest market trends on commercial insurance products, including Cyber, Property, D&O and other Financial Lines.
- An understanding of the end-to-end insurance purchasing process for commercial customers.
- An interest in wider enterprise risk management and the role of insurance within this.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good relationship skills.
- Experience in building slides and writing reports, project management, as well as in delivering and presenting work to clients.
- A detailed understanding of specific topical aspects of the commercial insurance market.
- An understanding of the role insurance captives can play in corporate insurance strategy.
- CertCII/DipCII qualified (or working towards) and strong degree in a related subject / other relevant qualification(s).
- At least 2-3 years of work experience, potentially in an insurance broker, claims, underwriting or corporate insurance function (or similar) environment.
