On behalf of our client, Royal London. We are looking for a Senior Compliance Officer for a 6 month contract. Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with a 50/50 hybrid working model.
Purpose of the role
Join a highly experienced Compliance team where you'll play a key role in helping the business navigate an evolving regulatory landscape.
Acting as a trusted advisor, you'll provide practical FCA compliance guidance to stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring regulatory requirements are understood, interpreted and embedded into business activities.
This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, contribute to governance and regulatory oversight, and support strategic business change within a fast-paced Financial Services environment.
What you'll do
- Act as a trusted compliance advisor, providing clear and practical regulatory guidance to stakeholders across the business.
- Interpret FCA rules and regulatory requirements, helping colleagues understand their obligations and make informed business decisions.
- Respond to a wide range of day-to-day compliance queries, offering commercially balanced advice.
- Represent Compliance at stakeholder meetings, providing regulatory input on business initiatives and decision making.
- Support governance activities through committee attendance, reporting and regulatory oversight.
- Contribute to strategic and regulatory-driven business change programmes, ensuring compliance considerations are embedded throughout.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Support and mentor junior members of the Compliance team where required.
- Prioritise a varied workload, managing multiple requests and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- The Skills you'll need
- Significant experience within a Financial Services compliance environment.
- Strong understanding of FCA regulations and the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
- Experience within Life & Pensions is highly desirable, although candidates from other regulated Financial Services environments, including Banking, will also be considered.
- Proven ability to provide practical, commercially aware compliance advice to business stakeholders.
- Experience supporting governance activities, regulatory reporting and compliance oversight.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence influencing and advising colleagues at all levels.
- Experience supporting regulatory or business change initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory matters clearly.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage changing priorities and work independently.
