Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides everyday banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The bank's expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate Banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.
On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for an API Backend Engineer (MCP) for a 6-month contract based in Edinburgh or London (Hybrid). As API Backend Engineer (MCP), you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, scalable APIs and backend services in cloud-native environments. The role centres on API development using modern API gateways on AWS or GCP, applying API standards, DevSecOps, and industry best practices, and delivering solutions within SCRUM agile ways of working.
As an API Backend Engineer (MCP), you will be responsible for:
- Building and operating APIs and MCPs using Apigee Hybrid/X.
- Contributing to backend integrations involving LLM-enabled or AI-driven systems, where applicable.
- Deploying, monitoring, and supporting production services on AWS or GCP.
- Actively contributing code while collaborating within SCRUM agile teams.
- Strong hands-on backend development experience (Java, Python, or Node.js).
- Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, private connectivity).
This client will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.
