Work on Ireland's largest archaeological project in 2024! Contribute to the different stages of the Foynes to Limerick Road Project, and be responsible for the excavation and recording of features as per AMS standards and guidelines.

Make written and drawn records of archaeological contexts including context sheets, section and plan drawings in accordance with AMS procedures and standards. Assist in the processing of artefacts and environmental samples. Assist in the preparation of site archives including record checking, data entry, basic site cross referencing and prescribed elements of archaeological reports. Maintain open communication with the Supervisor and Site Director regarding processing status, issues, and concerns.

Main Duties:

  • Excavation and recording of features as per AMS standards and guidelines
  • Accurate data entry of site records
  • Maintain the highest health and safety requirements at all times
  • Liaise with Supervisor and Site Director
  • Maintenance and care of site areas and equipment
  • Contribute to and support positive morale on site
  • Be professional and polite at all times and uphold the standards, values, and reputation of AMS in all team, client, and public interactions
  • Artefact and environmental processing work as required

Requirements:

  • Relevant archaeology degree or equivalent

About You:

  • Good knowledge of archaeology and heritage
  • Good knowledge of archaeological fieldwork processes
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Current Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates
  • References, if available (referees will not be approached without the candidate's permission)

Salary: €660/week and €50 subsistence (no accommodation provided)

Benefits: Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), 20 days annual leave (plus 10 bank holidays)
