The Role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior or Tax Manager to join our Manchester advisory team. This is a pure advisory role, managing a diverse portfolio of private and corporate clients and delivering high‑quality planning work across corporate, personal and family wealth tax. You will work closely with senior managers and directors on complex assignments, gaining exposure to significant advisory projects including restructures, transactions, succession planning and wealth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Corporate tax advisory - Advise large corporate clients on UK and international tax matters, including restructures, reorganisations, demergers, MBOs, EOTs, valuations, profit extraction strategies and due diligence.
- Client portfolio management - Lead and manage a portfolio of advisory clients, delivering commercially focused tax planning solutions.
- Business structuring - Advise on partnership formations, incorporations, trade vs investment company planning and preferred structure analysis.
- Transactional support - Support clients buying or selling businesses, providing clear guidance on tax implications and strategic planning.
- Personal & family wealth planning - Deliver advisory services including CGT planning, IHT mitigation (trusts, FICs), residence and domicile, remuneration strategies and succession planning.
- Wider tax planning - Advise on SDLT, IHT gifts, growth planning and broader business and personal tax opportunities.
- Technical collaboration - Work closely with managers and directors on complex technical assignments and high‑value advisory projects.
- Technical development - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UK tax legislation and emerging developments.
- Client relationship management - Build long‑term relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service delivery.
- Team leadership - Lead, support and develop junior team members.
Experience & Skills Required
- Professional qualification - ACA, ATT, CTA, ACCA (or part‑qualified) or equivalent experience.
- Corporate tax advisory background - Experience advising UK and international corporate clients.
- Accounting knowledge - Ability to interpret statutory accounts and identify tax implications.
- Technical strength - Strong UK corporate tax knowledge, including reviewing computations, tax accounting and group reporting.
- Advisory exposure - Proven experience in restructures, reorganisations, transactions or strategic planning.
- Personal tax exposure - Experience in CGT, IHT, residence/domicile or remuneration planning is highly advantageous.
- Practice background - Experience within a Top 50 firm or reputable advisory practice.
- Communication skills - Ability to interpret complex legislation and communicate clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Approach - Proactive, analytical and solutions‑driven, with confidence managing client relationships.
