Job Overview
The Sales & Business Development Executive is responsible for delivering profitable growth in the sale of our stocked product range.
This role will proactively identify and develop new B2B customers, reactivate dormant accounts, and increase the frequency and value of repeat purchases from existing customers whilst managing inbound website, telephone and email enquiries.
This will be a fast-paced sales role, focused on promoting our stocked metal products.
You will provide clear product and application guidance, prepare accurate quotations and proforma invoices and follow up opportunities through to order.
This is predominantly an office-based role at our Headquarters in Faversham.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Growth and Customer Development
- Deliver agreed revenue, gross profit, margin and product-volume targets for the stocked range.
- Identify and approach new customers within priority sectors, including joinery, cabinet making, furniture and kitchen manufacturing, shopfitting, interior fit-out, architectural metalwork, metal fabrication, ceiling contractors and selected specialist distributors.
- Develop relevant existing customers and reactivate dormant or lapsed accounts.
- Increase repeat-order frequency and average order value through structured follow-up, cross-selling and account development.
- Maintain a defined target-account list and active pipeline.
- Inbound Enquiry and Order Conversion
- Respond promptly to website, telephone and email enquiries, qualify customer requirements and recommend suitable stocked products.
- Prepare accurate quotations and order information for standard stocked products.
- Follow up every qualified enquiry through to order, recorded loss or agreed future action, capturing reasons for any lost business.
- Product Guidance and Internal Handover
- Develop strong working knowledge of products and their principal applications & USP’s.
- Qualify and transfer bespoke, specification or project based enquiries to the Technical Sales team.
- Stock Performance and Demand Intelligence
- Monitor sales revenue, gross profit and unit volume by product/SKU.
- Produce regular demand forecasts and fact based recommendations for stock additions, removals or adjustments to the Commercial Manager.
- Develop and implement agreed sales campaigns for new, priority and slow-moving stock with the Commercial & Marketing Managers.
- Market Development and Marketing Support
- Track competitor products, pricing, stock availability and delivery timeline.
- Provide customer and market insight to support Marketing activities across our website, Linked In, targeted campaigns, product launches and stock promotions.
- CRM, Reporting and Commercial Governance
- Maintain accurate CRM records for leads, enquiries, quotations, customer activity and next actions.
- Provide weekly pipeline, repeat business, product volume, stock performance and activity updates.
- Maintain pricing discipline, obtain approval for discounts outside the agreed parameters.
- Work closely with Commercial, Warehouse, Operations, Purchasing, Marketing and Technical Sales colleagues to resolve issues and maintain a consistent customer experience.

- Proactive prospecting, follow-up, negotiation and closing skills.
- Strong internal B2B sales and customer service capability in a fast paced environment.
- Good commercial awareness, including pricing, gross margin and discount control.
- Accurate and disciplined use of CRM systems and sales reporting.
- Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, telesales or account development, with the ability to prospect, qualify, negotiate and close sales.
- Strong telephone, email and professional written communication.
- Commercial numeracy and competent use of CRM systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn and clearly communicate technical product information.
- Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in stockholding, distribution, merchanting, manufacturing, e-commerce, construction or interior products would be an advantage.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in business development or sales.
- Proven track record in B2B sales.
- GCSE grade 5 (C) or above in English and Maths.
- UK driving licence would be desirable but is not essential.
