Key responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Account Managers and Senior Account Managers, building their commercial and client relationship capabilities.
  • Assign and review account allocations across the team, ensuring the right accounts are matched to the right people.
  • Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and hold one-to-one check-ins with direct reports.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for client and commercial issues that cannot be resolved by team members, providing direction on next steps.
  • Oversee the team’s ownership of client relationships, account growth, and financial accuracy across the portfolio.
  • Personally own the client relationship, account growth, and financial accuracy for a reduced portfolio of key accounts, dedicating less than 50% of your time to direct account management.
  • Partner with Project Management leadership to ensure alignment between Account Management teams and project delivery teams.
  • Review and approve commercial offers, pricing, and contract terms above an agreed threshold or complexity level.
  • Monitor team performance against sales and margin targets and report on team and account performance to the Commercial Leader.
  • Identify and manage risks and crisis situations across key or escalated accounts.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and career development of Account Managers and Senior Account Managers.
  • Champion consistent ways of working and the agreed R&R framework across the team.
  • Participate in company and commercial improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings with key clients and support project-specific discussions, problem solving and decision-making.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Account Management or a related field, including experience mentoring or leading others.
  • Very good knowledge of German would be an additional advantage.
  • Proven experience in people management and developing team capabilities.
  • Experience managing client relationships and a portfolio of accounts, with a strong commercial focus.
  • Ability to manage team performance against sales and margin targets.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage escalations, prioritise accounts, and make effective resourcing decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, particularly Project Management, Design, Engineering, Estimating, and Production.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CRM/project tracking systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
