AMG Chrome Limited are looking for a Welder Fitter and Fabricator Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship and join their team. The successful candidate will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to support the fabrication, fitting, and welding of metal components under supervision.
Role & responsibilities
- Assist with the fabrication, fitting and welding of metal components and structures
- Support experienced fabricators and welders with cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing metal parts
- Learn and apply different welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Arc welding
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and measurements under supervision
- Operate workshop tools and machinery safely, (e.g. Grinders, drills, cutting equipment)
- Prepare materials and components for fabrication and welding processes
- Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of fabricated structures or equipment
- Follow standard safety practices and procedures including the proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Follow instructions from supervisor/manager
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety, and legislative requirements at all times
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and contribute to general workshop duties
- Attend college and complete all coursework and assessments as required

Things to consider
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job. Please note the AMRC Training Centre reserves the right to close applications ahead of the published closing date.
Qualification Requirements
Advanced apprenticeships entry requirements: You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
