Balmoral Tanks Limited are looking for a Mechatronics Maintenance Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship. The role will require the candidate to be involved in day-to-day facility support, particularly in relation to plant/equipment, buildings and premises with general supervision of sub-contractors on site. The candidate will help maintain facility services and processes that support the core business of the organisation, ensuring the most suitable working environment for its employees and activities.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Operate a safe working environment in-line with company policies & procedures
  • Assist and learn from day-to-day tasks which are performed by the maintenance team
  • Working with a variety of equipment and tools
  • A combination of mechanical, electrical and pneumatics
  • Interpret drawings/specifications and plan work, ensuring you have the right tools, equipment and resources to complete the task
  • Diagnosing and responding to breakdowns and performing servicing
  • Ensuring all machines are serviced and inspected to schedule, in-line with health and safety
  • Performing basic maintenance routines on tools and equipment
  • Support the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure
  • Ensuring maintenance records are up to date
  • Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose by regular servicing
  • Ensure compliance to all maintenance procedures

Skills required:

  • Good presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Must be willing to develop interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word and Engineering software packages, for which further training will be provided
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Inquisitive

Balmoral Tanks is a leading design and manufacturing company that provides unique turnkey services spanning civils groundwork, tank design and manufacture, installation, commissioning and technical after sales services.

Things to consider:

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:

Advanced apprenticeships entry requirements: You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
