Turbine Surface Technologies Limited (TST) are looking for a Maintenance Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship and join their team. TST's dedicated Maintenance team are an integral part of the business that provides hands-on specialist support to the factory. This would be ideal for a candidate who is interested in starting an exciting job with practical skills, learning how our specialist machinery works.
Role & responsibilities:
- Diagnosing breakdown problems and fitting new parts to ensure the equipment is working correctly
- Carrying out quality inspections on assigned jobs
- Liaising with various operational departments, the engineering team and customers as required to arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
- Designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
- Understand the fundamentals of the operation of the equipment and machinery within their area
- Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment
- Writing maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines
- To carry out any other duties that may be required by the Company
Skills required:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, be a “people person”
- Works well as a team member and builds effective working relationships with all levels
- Ability to work independently, whilst being able to work under pressure
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
- Demonstrate an ability to plan work coupled with the drive and tenacity to see it through to completion

Things to consider: During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.
Qualification Requirements:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
