Global-MSI are looking for a Welder Apprentice to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship to join their team. The candidate will learn the skills and techniques necessary to become a professional welder. This will include assisting experienced welders with various tasks such as cutting, grinding, welding, and fitting metal parts. The position requires a willingness to work within an engineering environment, perform physical labour, and learn from a team of experienced professionals.
Role & responsibilities:
- Assist welders in setting up and preparing weld surfaces, equipment, and materials as needed
- Cut and grind metal pieces to fit properly and remove any impurities
- Perform basic welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques
- Clean and maintain welding equipment and tools daily
- Move materials and equipment to job sites as directed by lead welders
- Learn and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times while performing welding tasks
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and to performance expectations

Things to consider: During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based in Catcliffe, Sheffield, for an initial block of full-time study. One Friday per month you will return to your workplace. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Qualification Requirements:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
