Nuclear Energy Components (NEC) Limited are looking for an Apprentice welder to complete a Level 3 Plate Welder apprenticeship and join their team.
Role & Responsibilities:
As an apprentice welder, the candidate will be learning to manufacture stainless steel components using the TIG welding process, whilst undergoing the training, which is a mixture of full time at the AMRC training centre followed by day release and on the job training. Once qualified the candidate will be assembling and welding stainless steel components for the nuclear power sector and carrying out in process inspection checks using a variety of gauges, micrometres and Vernier measuring equipment whilst maintaining high standards of workshop organisation and high health and safety standards. As a small team we like the ability to be flexible and so further on the job training opportunities such as fitting, waterjet operation and inspection can be taken up so that you become a versatile, flexible and highly skilled member of our team.

Things to Consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships Entry Requirements: You will need both of the following:
- GCSE English language C or 4 or above
- GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
