Overview
Role: Operational Technology Analyst
Location: Manchester or Liverpool, United Kingdom
Hybrid Working – 2 to 3 days per week
Contract: Permanent / Fixed Term
Responsibilities
- IT and OT Operations Management: Oversee the daily management of IT components within the OT environment, including hardware and software support, network operations, and server administration.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and continuously refine OT policies, procedures, and best practices that align with organizational goals and industry standards. Coordinate with IT and Security teams to ensure alignment where possible and differentiation where required.
- Team Collaboration: Liaise with OT and IT colleagues, factory maintenance technicians, production operators, and supervisors to ensure full compliance with established processes and to build IT-centric OT solutions.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor OT servers, networks, and overall system performance, addressing any issues promptly to maintain optimal operational levels.
- Data Security Assurance: Lead efforts to ensure that data security protocols and backup procedures remain current, robust, and effective across the OT landscape.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert technical support for OT-related hardware, software, and network challenges. Collaborate with wider teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of systems and processes, ensuring knowledge is effectively shared across the team.
Experience and Education
- Education: Bachelor\’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 10 to 18 years of IT and OT operations experience, with a strong track record in networking, security, cloud technologies, automation systems, Active Directory, domain management, switch infrastructure, and IT maintenance.
- Proven experience in utilizing ITSM frameworks (ITIL v3 or v4) with platforms such as ServiceNow.
Key Skills and Technical Expertise
- IT/OT Integration: Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure with a focus on OT systems. Proficiency in Windows OS, VMware ESXi, SQL, Cisco networking, Active Directory, domain administration, SCCM, Intune, and AWS EC2 management.
- Operational Technology Expertise: Experience with OT systems including:
- Siemens: PLC ecosystem, WinCC SCADA, PCS7, Profinet
- Rockwell Automation: PLC ecosystem, FactoryTalk AssetCentre server, SCADA, HMI, Ethernet/IP
- Others: Kepware OPC UA
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyse complex issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements in both IT and OT environments.
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaborative skills necessary for managing peer relationships and influencing change.
