Salary: £33,500 plus car allowance of £2,665 per year. Contract: Permanent, full time. Your week: 36.25 hours Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5pm. Location: Hybrid with a weekly presence in our Rushden office.
Looking to make a real difference in people's lives? As an Assistant Debt Advisor at Amplius, you'll support customers in managing debt, boosting income, and building long-term financial stability. Working alongside experienced Debt Advisors, you'll provide tailored advice on less complex cases while learning to assist with more challenging ones - all delivered with empathy, professionalism, and full regulatory compliance. In return, this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills, gain professional accreditation in regulated debt advice, and make a tangible impact on customers' financial wellbeing and tenancy sustainment. The role involves regular travel across the central region, primarily covering areas from Rushden up to Birmingham. For this reason, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
Snapshot of your role:
- Provide tailored debt advice to customers, assessing their financial situation, liability, and future goals while ensuring fairness and compliance with standards.
- Prepare and explain debt solutions, including insolvency and Breathing Space schemes, ensuring customers understand implications.
- Offer guidance on income maximisation, budgeting, money management, and debt prioritisation.
- Manage a small caseload, liaising with creditors, external agencies, and internal colleagues to implement agreed solutions.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes and deliver advice in writing to meet regulatory requirements.
- Build trusting, non-judgemental relationships, identifying wider needs and signposting to additional support services.
- Collaborate with colleagues, participate in training, and develop professional knowledge towards full debt advice accreditation.
What you'll need to thrive:
- Experience supporting customers in financial difficulty and providing advice on debt, budgeting, and financial wellbeing, helping them achieve positive outcomes.
- Ability to manage casework, keep accurate records and follow procedures with attention to detail.
- Understanding of debt advice principles, income maximisation, and budgeting, with awareness of debt solutions such as DMPs, DROs, IVAs, and bankruptcy.
- Knowledge of data protection, confidentiality, safeguarding, and the Breathing Space scheme.
- Strong communication, listening, negotiation, and advocacy skills, able to explain complex information clearly.
- Organised and dependable, able to work independently or as part of a team and manage time effectively under pressure.
- Compassionate and non-judgemental, emotionally resilient and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
