The Role: This is a hands-on leadership and commercial role, ideal for someone with a strong background in arboriculture. You might come from a contracting background, work as an Arb Surveyor, or have experience as a Local Authority Tree Officer. You will share a passion for excellence and delivering work safely, efficiently, and responsibly.
You will need proven commercial and contract management experience, the ability to build strong client partnerships based on mutual trust, and the capability to lead and develop teams while delivering work safely, profitably, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage arboriculture contracts from mobilisation to completion
- Drive commercial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and industry standards
- Confidently lead teams on-site, setting clear expectations and maintaining high standards
- Motivate, coach, and develop staff to achieve operational excellence
- Allocate work effectively based on team strengths and project needs
- Maintain strong communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Monitor progress and ensure delivery against programme and financial targets
- Identify opportunities for efficiency, growth, and additional revenue
About You:
We are looking for someone who combines technical arboriculture expertise with strong commercial awareness and leadership capability.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in a Contract Manager / Commercial Manager role within arboriculture, landscaping, or vegetation management
- Background as an Arborist, Tree Officer, or similar highly desirable
- Strong understanding of tree work operations, equipment, techniques, and safety standards
- Demonstrable commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and delivering profitability
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to balance hands-on operational delivery with strategic commercial oversight
Qualifications:
- Arboriculture qualifications or equivalent experience (Essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
