Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. The role involves completing a full range of maintenance activities across the installed asset base, rapidly diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and basic control & instrumentation faults. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimising downtime, maintaining equipment reliability, and supporting the launch and commissioning of new or refurbished machinery.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Day-to-day upkeep, maintenance, and servicing of production equipment
- Rapid response to breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Supporting implementation, commissioning, and launch of new or refurbished equipment
- Diagnosing equipment faults and executing repairs in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems
- Programming fault finding, modifications, and troubleshooting via PLCs
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and ensuring schedules are adhered to
- Reading and interpreting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings
- Implementing quality countermeasures and ensuring equipment operates to specification
- Participating in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting 5S and maintaining an organised, safe, and efficient work environment
- Any other duties of a similar nature or level of responsibility
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Understanding of engineering principles and technical drawings
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
- Strong practical skills with experience maintaining production equipment
- Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Good numeracy and analytical skills
- BTEC HNC Electrical or equivalent
- Experience with PLC programming and fault diagnosis
- Previous experience in a precision engineering or CNC manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of quality systems (AS9100) and safety-critical processes
